1.1 Explanatory Notes/Recap
Nigel made contact with Burke and infiltrated the armoury whereupon he stole armour and weapons. He also encountered two of the constructs which he avoided. At the end he decided to get Gavin out and not to attack the tower top. This left us with Burke gating him back to the mountaintop where there was an easy climb and an easy ignition of the torch as no one had been expecting him to be back in the place he was taken from.
2.0 Overview
I assume Nigel to now be coming down from the mountain. This will take some time as both Gavin and him are not dressed for the weather and the path is steep and treacherous. Nigel may also visit the compound which is deserted and destroyed, Ephriam’s men having wrecked the place sometime after Nigel’s capture but before his return.
Ultimately, they will be met by no one at the bottom of the mountain. I further assume that here Nigel will wait. The first arrivals will be armed men from Steegan, led by Galwyr, Count Bannock’s son. Galwyr, having faith in Nigel will be the first to swear to Gavin. This is important and the area around Cyr is nominally within the border of County Bannock. That fact means that by swearing this fealty Nigel and Gavin gain automatic protection from the villagers around the lower parts of the mountain – many of whom have started to gather. Offending a Lord of Steegan with whom many of these trappers depend on to buy their pelts and meat would not be a good thing.
Galwyr will immediately send runners to Steegan to announce to his father that the heir has come. This will have the immediate effect of forcing Count Bannock’s hand and he is obliged to don armor and present himself with his retinue at the base of Mt. Cyr. This also demands that he send runners to other outlying fiefdoms to attend as is their agreements in time of troubles. Count Bannock will be the next to arrive. And so on will this snowball grow. There will be a few who ignore the ancient signal, but most will rise and come forward. Count Bannock will arive one week after the descent.
After Count Bannock will come Morion Craig, Lord of Innarch, master of Skye (from the West). Following him will be Duke Eachann Ward, Conal Ward’s father, a man in his 90s. Note too that by this time the rest of the people Nigel found important at Atbaah will also have shown up. Follwing Eachann will be Dhanna and Steuben. Both are much thinner for their travel. Dhanna is uncharacteristically disheveled however, but attempts to maintain a brave front. The separation however has left her much distressed as she has been bearing Nigel’s negatives. She will take rest now that the hurt has gone and leave Nigel to recieve one other notable, Countess Audra MacConnell. Audra is a woman of large build and strong character. She also has a fiery temperment (to match her flame-red hair). The last person Nigel will encounter before Dhanna rejoins him will be Donrian Beck. Donrian is a runner sent from the Hide to find Nigel. He has spent the better part of the last two months seeking him. He has a sealed message for Nigel. He does not know what it contains.
The message is actually two separate messages. One from Captain Nym which tells him that a messenger from Thanetia has come to the Hide seeking Nigel as that messenger has a message from Arion for Nigel. That is the second message.
The message from the king basically states that Thanetia has now been invaded by the Lorn Imperium. Nigel is demanded to return and take up arms to assist his king. Further, he is to return with the Black Company or remnants thereof and strike toward Beaufort where they may find their King engaged in the defense of the city. Nigel now has a decision. Should he decided to go he will have to find the Black Company as they have already received the word and not knowing where he is rallied around Captin Nym and departed for Beaufort. Nothing is said in this note about the Blue Company.
Should Nigel stay all is well. Another month will go by at which point Nigel will have a large army assembled at the base of the mountain. At this time all of those who are going to arrive will have had ample time to get there. Dhanna says that it is time to present Gavin to the leaders of the armies. She has them gathered at night in secret. This event is historical as many nobles have not been gathered together like this for many generations. BenAsher will present the evidence of Gavin’s heritage, carefully preserved and unrefutable. Fingal and Rory McDuff also give their stories. All bow and recognize Gavin as their leader – even the unwilling. The most important recognition however will come from Dierdren MacKenzie, Mistress and Scion of Clan MacKenzie of who Toreth is a part of. All eyes are on her as her formal, heartfelt and emotional recitation of the ancient binding words of fealty will be clearly and unmistakenly heard for all gathered. Words that no one in the Domains thought would ever be spoken again, because Cyr only had one king, Malain. Malain’s brother never survived to be crowned and died as a Duke.

“I promise on my faith, that I will now be true to my King, never cause him harm and will observe my duty to him completely, against all persons, in good faith and without deceit.”

A council is held, plans, responsibilities and other important things are laid down. But this is not for Nigel although he may think he is to be part of it. Gavin will be centrally involved.
Dhanna will quietly call him aside. Steuben will make himself scarce, but available at need. Dhanna is unguarded and Nigel can see hints of her true age (and of her exhaustion). She is tired. But the end game has yet just begun. She tells Nigel that she has an assignment for him. He will then be (re)introduced to Garuhm Ironhand. As old notes state, a decision will be made after the contact party has returned to discuss matters. The hill dwarves have seen the torch and a decision has been reached. Garuhm Ironhand has decended with all his able-bodied men from Mt. Laurell and have come to swear their fealty to Gavin Tareth. It is THEIR torch that was set up for this purpose, designed and built by them. The time has come.
As Garum goes to swear his oaths (stunning the assembled nobles) Dhanna tells Nigel that she has an assignment for him. Garuhm has no heir. The throne will be passed to the brother of a distant cousin upon his death. However, Baznor Ironhand, King of the Mountain Dwarves within Sethanon (descended from Dalgum per previous notes) does have a son. Nigel is to find Sethanon and hopefully bring them to the aid of Cyr and their brethren. Garuhm wishes to hand his throne to Gimoril, his nephew, son of Baznor. This would unite (once again) the Cyr dwarves and create a solid army for Cyr.
Garuhm, after making his fealty will come back to where Dhanna and Nigel are talking. He will give Nigel a map showing the secret underground tunnel entrance to Sethanon. Sethanon, as per previous notes in in 69-X. Nigel has some travel to do. He will be going alone. Dhanna tells him that it is now her duty to see to “raising Gavin properly.” Nigel will again note her supreme exhaustion, but this time colored with sorrow. She will ask Nigel to leave before morning while the council is still working on things. She cries after he leaves.
3.0 Scenario
Nigel’s journey from where he is to 69-X will be peaceful. The entire area is focused on Mt. Cyr and any resistance he finds is likely to be sporadic as the Union does not have total control of this particular area. Note that all that has come before in this restart has seemed to all be based in 70-X. So, 69-X is fresh and I can fill in the area, although I do have a pre-existing map that notes the village of Kaylenn.
Nigel is now also still pursued by the Shadow Assasin and will be dealing with that until he “kills” it. Note also that 69-X is heavily occupied by goblins, orcs and Koros troopers. Nigel will also start to see Drow at night. As per past notes, the Underdark tunnel also is located under the mountain that Nigel is seeking. Unlike past notes, Ephriam has concluded the alliance with the Drow already and they are proceeding from underneath. The Union is using them as night shock troops.

Note that this file was placed here in January 2011. Subsequent events between my friend and I later in the year (specifically November 2011) have essentially resulted in this adventure being terminated prematurely but permanently (we had a falling out).

Again, I leave the notes up for reference but the liklihood of a return to this adventure is zero.
